Saw this cartoon in the August 21 print version of Computer World (couldn't find it on-line - what a bummer) and since my Dell laptop at work is now a "mobile desktop" due to a lack of a battery (thanks LAN field services), I really appreciate this jab. I am rather surprized at the number of batteries that have been recalled and wonder what has changed to get such a reaction. I know I have used my work laptop for 2 years and it was left plugged in overnight at least on a monthly basis. Was I just lucky? I guess I need to understand the issue more, but it sure seems like an over-reaction to me. Is it a sign of the newly bestowed power of the consumer?
If you live in the tech world, the cartoonist is John Klossner and I really enjoyed browsing his archive. Perhaps more of his work will make it to the blog someday.
The Dell cartoon got a rave review from the folks that I sent it to...Dad.
